The Little Mermaid is a tale of true love and good intentions winning over all obstacles. Marina, like many young people of today, is brimming over with curiosity. She is curious about the dreaded “land creatures.” But Marina has seen Prince Caspian, on his father’s ship, and has fallen in love with him. She trades her beautiful voice to the Sea Witch, Crustatia, a giant Mae-West-type lobster, in exchange for human feet. We are introduced to many new characters, one of the most delightful being Buttles, the Butler, who provides a memorable role for any actor. Octo, Marina’s pet octopus; Crustatia’s three pet eels; Agnes and Agatha, the two comical palace maids; and Stella, Princess Isabella’s manipulative mother.

This play is a message from the heart, delivered through a delightfully constructed script. The surprise twist comes in the end, when Prince Caspian dives into the sea after Marina and becomes a “merman”--which, if you think about it, makes sense, since humans live 70-100 years and “merpeople” live 300+ years in peace and serenity.
