A brand new, inspiring and surprisingly humorous play about a princess who
decides that it is unfair that girls are not allowed to read in the medieval
land of Lundenstein. Princess Arabella locks herself, with her Ladies in
Waiting (against their wills--at first) in the highest tower of the palace.
She and her ladies will stay there until they are thoroughly educated.
This really rocks the foundations of the social establishment in Lundenstein.
Arabella’s mother, Queen Ella, falls into one of her usual faints. Her
father, King Albert, is beside himself with amazement and anger. The tower is
his masterpiece, his safe- keep that he had constructed in case of invasion.
It is stocked with everything needed for a two year stay. Everything! Once the
iron doors are bolted from within, it is impenetrable. His only daughter has
turned renegade. He will become the laughingstock of Europe!
Matters become even more complicated when King Harold, of Gunderstein, pays a
surprise visit with his son, Prince Ferdinand. As it turns out Prince Ferdinand
may be the only person who may be able to get the princess to come down. Albert
is again shocked when he learns that girls are taught to read right alongside
the boys in the land of Gunderstein, a newly progressive country. Ferdinand is
intrigued and wants to meet this brave princess for himself and has a surprising
plan of how he will do it! Throw in two comical scullery maids, a court-full
of gossiping duchessess and King Albert’s confused advisors and you have
a humorous, theatrical romp.
